There’s an AI question I’d put ahead of learning another prompt:
“Am I allowed to put this client information into the account I’m using?”
If you’ve never checked, make that your next step. An individual paid ChatGPT or Claude account doesn’t automatically have the same terms and controls as a business account. Your settings, connected services, and brokerage’s policies matter, too.
NAR has advised members to avoid entering confidential client information into public AI tools. The California Association of REALTORS® also provides AI policy resources for brokerages.
Be sure to check which account you’re using, review its data settings, and ask your broker what information you’re allowed to share. Use a fictional example when you’re testing an unfamiliar tool.
And remember, upgrading to a business account doesn’t automatically make every document appropriate to upload.
Over the next two months, we’re covering these differences in the AI workshops so you can better understand the tools, settings, and questions to bring to your broker.
If AI is becoming part of your business, understanding how you’re using it needs to become part of your business, too. Join us now and make this part of your learning plan.
